Spathiphyllum is a genus of about 47 species of flowering plants in the Araceae family. Its roots go back to the tropical regions of America and southeastern Asia. In its natural habitat, it grows near rivers and lakes. It was a German botanist who brought this beauty to Europe, where it began to grow as an ornamental statement piece in many homes. Peace lilies have been hybridised and therefore come in dozens of popular varieties. Our favourite is the Spathiphyllum Diamond Variegata. This beauty is everything you need. Everybody knows that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, especially the ones that are variegated. She is a variegated version of the Spathiphyllum, which we also call a ‘spoon’ or ‘flag’ plant. She differs in her stunning variegated accents all over the leaf. These also differ in shade which makes her even more interesting to look at. Despite being a rarity, this houseplant is easy to care for. She is completely happy with a spot in the shade, partial shade or indirect light.
