The Jewel Orchid - Macodes petola originates from South China, Thailand and Indonesia. The orchid grows in nature on the ground in the forest or along rivers. The plant loves high humidity.
The Macodes Petola Jewel Orchid (Baby) does not like a lot of light, so give her a shady spot. She has short roots and grows mainly horizontally, so she likes shallow pots, or even better the shallow soil of a terrarium or vivarium, and she’ll grow into an adult lady with your care. You will receive her in a care pot with airy soil, and if you’d like repot her be sure to choose orchid potting soil (which is different from regular soil) mixed 50/50 with moss, with hydro grains on the bottom, and avoid terracotta pots. This will ensure he roots get air and moisture without the stems rotting.
