The Alocasia is known to be a bit picky when it comes to watering. It doesn’t want wet feet, since this might cause the rhizomes to rot. But drought around their roots is also something they dislike. It is important to check the moistness of the soil regularly and have a good watering schedule to make this plant as happy as it can be.
You will make this edgy-looking plant happy with a chunky soil mix, once it has grown bigger and is in need of repotting. You might even want to consider growing it on Pon, since it's likely to grow very well in this substrate.
