Our BabyPLNTS Starter Kit is especially made for new plant parents and will get you all set up for the ultimate plant parent experience! This starter kit contains everything you need to help these three beautiful (and easy to care for) baby plants grow into happy, healthy houseplants. Your first baby is the Asparagus Fern, a great beginner plant that hails all the way from Africa. It may come as a surprise when you look at her, but this lady is closely related to the asparagus we eat as a vegetable! The baby fern has fine, tailing branches that are covered with thin leaves, giving her a bushy look. This evergreen cutie is soft to the touch, grows fast and demands little care. Your second baby is the Platycerium alcicorne, a type of fern with long leaves that resemble the antlers of a deer. That’s why she’s nicknamed the ‘Staghorn Fern’. Unlike most other ferns, this cutie loves light, perhaps because she originally hails from sunny Australia! Her leaves have a soft, hair-like covering, which helps your baby to retain moisture and to dry out less quickly, making this hardy little houseplant ideal for first time plant parents. In the starter kit you will find everything you need to take care of your baby plants. Both plants have their own care tips. The baby ctenanthe burle marxii likes a bright spot but doesn't like direct sunlight. It likes moist soil but doesn't like wet feet, so be careful not to overwater it. The baby platycerium alcicorne is a huge fan of of bright sunlight and is happiest when placed on a windowsill or near a window. It also loves moist soil, but you have to be careful because if you pour water directly on the leaves their white downy layer will disappear, making the plant vulnerable. To avoid this, give a little water twice a week but pour it directly onto the soil under the leaves. In the growing season of spring and summer we recommend regularly giving some extra organic PLNTS food to aid growth. Pay attention because before you know it they will outgrow their small pots thanks to your love and it will be time for new ones!

We expect every order to arrive in tip-top shape. We take intensive care of the plants in our greenhouse and use special and as sustainable as possible protective packaging to ship our plants. We also wrote an extensive blog about how to unpack and prepare your plants for growth after shipping. However there are rare occasions where our plants don’t meet their full potential. That’s why all plants are guaranteed for 30 days after arrival, if still in its original nursery pot.
