The Ctenanthe Burle Marxii comes from the tropical regions of Central and South America and is related to the Calathea. Her leaves make this beauty a real eye-catcher. The long, oval leaf has a striped herringbone pattern and is dark green with gray-green. The undersides of the leaves are reddish, which she will show you every night after dark. In the morning she will delight you again with her beautiful leaves!
This Fishbone prayer plant is a tough plant. She prefers shade and absolutely doesn't like direct sunlight as this will scorch her pretty patterned leaves. She appreciates a humid environment, therefor it is best you help her by misting her daily with a plant sprayer. It is important to keep her soil moist

March 28, 2021Decided to add this plant to my order on a whim, it caught my eye and I HAD to have it. Let me tell you, this plant can be picky. - Loves humidity and without it brown crispy spots will appear on the leaves. - LOVES water. This guy will throw a whole tantrum if you let the soil get dry or if it begins to compact. The edges of his leaves will curl and it’s as if the plant is hiding his beautiful fishbone design in an act of disobedience. Couple hours after a good water and his leaves will go completely back to normal as if nothing happened. Once you get the hang of figuring out exactly what this plant wants it’s easy peasy. I love taking photos of this plant throughout the day because he loves following the sun around the room and repositioning throughout the day. So cool to be able to see how much the plant has moved since you last took a picture!

Other than the displaced soil, my plant came in perfect condition despite being in the post for a few days in the colder months.

Ctenanthe is a beautiful tropical houseplant with much popularity among plant parents. While they can be a bit fussy, their beauty makes up for it. They are native to Central and South America, primarily Brazil, where they grow in the undergrowth of humid and warm tropical forests.
Ctenanthe is a plant with a unique name that's pronounced "ten-an-thee" (the "c" is silent). They are also known as the Never Never Plant or Prayer Plant because they close their leaves at night as if they're in prayer and open them again in the morning. They are part of the Marantaceae family, along with Calathea and Maranta.
