The Caryota Mitis originates from Southeast Asia and is also called the Pisces tail palm. The plant owes its name to the beautifully shaped leaves that resemble the tail of a fish. In nature the Caryota can grow up to 8 meters high, as a houseplant it usually does not grow higher than 2.50 meters. Will this fishtail palm be yours? Order Caryota Mitis here.
Even though it loves warmth, the Caryota mitis still grows well in dark or shady places, making it ideal for offices. But she really does love a little light, so make sure she’s sitting where she can soak up about three hours of indirect sunlight daily. This will help the leaves keep their nice deep green colour. The potting soil should always be a little moist- a weekly splash of water is enough. In the growing season of spring and summer we recommend regularly giving some extra organic PLNTS nutrition to keep your mitis in perfect condition.
