The Alocasia zebrina is the princess of the plant savannah. With her beautiful striped stem, which refers to a zebra, she is a feast for the eyes. In natural settings her leaves become so large they’re said to resemble an elephant's ear. For many animals in the Southeast Asian rainforest the leaves, which can reach a metre wide, offer a safe hiding place. The Alocasia Zebrina doesn't likes moist feet, so give it a splash of water several times a week. Make sure the soil doesn't get too wet- her roots are prone to rot. If she gets too much water, the excess will emerge out of the leaves as small drops, which can stain wooden floors and tables. She’s happiest in a light spot, but not in full sun. During spring and summer, the growing season, regularly give some organic PLNTS nutrition to keep her looking her best, and if her leaves develop brown edges it's time to repot!
