Strelitzia Nicolai in glass is the white bird of paradise with a stylish twist: her roots grow visibly in a clear glass vase on hydroculture, no soil involved. Watering becomes wonderfully simple, you can literally see when she is thirsty. Above the glass she waves her huge banana-like leaves just as proudly as her potted sisters. A clean, modern way to bring tropical drama to your interior.
Your strelitzia is a light lover through and through: give her the brightest spot you have, where even some direct sun is welcome. Water weekly in the growing season, keeping the soil lightly moist, and a little less in winter. Her big leaves love an occasional shower or wipe to stay dust-free. Feed her in spring and summer, because all that fast growth costs energy, and repot every two years into a sturdy pot. Small tears in her leaves are completely natural, in the wild they help her catch the wind, and keep her out of reach of nibbling pets.
