The Platycerium Bifurcatum is a fern with leaves that resemble the antlers of a deer, which is where it gets its nickname of ‘stag horn fern’. Unlike most other ferns this lady loves some bright light, perhaps because she has her 'roots' in sunny Australia. The surface of the leaves of the Platycerium Alcicorne are covered with a layer of soft downy hairs, and it’s thanks to these that she can hold moisture very well and doesn’t dry out easily, making her a hardwearing member of the family.
Unlike most other fern species the Platycerium Bifurcatum likes light, so she’s very happy to sit on the windowsill or near a window. When it comes to watering she likes moist soil, so give a little water twice a week directly on the soil under the leaves. Be careful- if you pour water directly on the leaves, they lose their white down layer and this makes the plant vulnerable. During spring and summer, the growing season, give some extra organic PLNTS nutrition regularly to give your plant optimal support.
Came waaay bigger than expected. Very pretty. I'm still trying to befriend it, hope it goes well
Ordered an Alcicorne but got a Monstera deliciosa M (assuming), so this is a review for the monstera
