The Euphorbia Trigona ‘Rubra' resembles a cactus, but is actually a succulent plant that hails from Africa. This tough beauty has thick stalks with spines and cactus-like ‘arms’ covered with stunning burgundy red leaves.
He grows rapidly and is super easy to maintain. Because of its milky white sap and African origin, the Euphorbia is often nicknamed the ‘African Milk Tree’. Other nicknames he goes by are the ‘Good Luck Plant’ and the ‘Friendship Cactus’, but do not let these nicknames fool you! The Euphorbia is super forgiving and easy to care for, but also highly toxic. The white milky sap of the Euphorbia plant is poisonous when ingested and can also cause skin and eye irritation, so do not hug him and keep him away from pets and children.

Just like other succulents, the Euphorbia Trigona ‘Rubra’ is not a big drinker. He is super forgiving and very tolerant of irregular watering. Always let the soil dry thoroughly before watering again. This sturdy cowboy loves indirect but bright sunlight. His body language will confirm this, because his dramatic red coloration will disappear when he gets too little sunlight. During winter, the Euphoriba Rubra drops his leaves and goes dormant. This is nothing to worry about and completely normal: he simply values his alone time and will ‘bloom’ up again when spring arrives! Just make sure to water even less in winter.
Very pretty plant. It arrived a little bit crooked, but I was able to plant it in a way that it looked straight again. By now it’s about 60cm tall, even though it was growing somewhat slowly at first. It seems to need a lot of light, otherwise new growth will definitely take some time. The only issue I have with it that I’m not sure how to get some of the smaller branches to grow, or how to get it to form new branches, so the three main stems look a little bit lonely. Otherwise I really love this plant.
nice plant

Everything about Euphorbia
The botanical name Euphorbia is named after Euphorbos, a famous Greek physician. Euphorbos wrote that one of the cactus-like Euphorbia (now called Euphorbia Obtusifolia) was used as a powerful laxative. In 1753, the botanist Carl Linnaeus first described the entire genus and gave it the name Euphorbia.
Euphorbias are great houseplants. They're not too picky, so they're perfect for both beginners and experienced plant parents. The only thing you need to remember is to put them in a bright spot. So why not give Euphorbia a try?
