The Macodes Lowii, sometimes confused with the Dossinia Marmorata, could well be the queen of all jewel orchids. It is her leaves, but especially her striking almost rose-gold veins that are brighter green-gold towards the inner part of the leaf and cover the leaf like lightning bolts, that make Jewel Orchid lovers fall in love. She will darken as she matures, but the colouration will vary with the amount of light she receives.

Everything about Jewel Orchid

Jewel Orchids differ from other Orchids because Jewel Orchids are grown for their outstanding foliage rather than the flowers. The main reason for this is that Jewel Orchids are terrestrials.

This means they grow in soil on the ground, whereas many other orchids are epiphytic and grow on trees. The unique growing conditions and habitat of Jewel Orchids have led to the evolution of striking foliage as a way to attract pollinators and compete with other plants for resources.
