Glossy, deep green leaves arch out from a sturdy cane in dense, tidy rosettes, and at 130 cm tall this green friend fills a corner without ever taking over the room. The broad, leathery leaves have a soft sheen that catches the light as you walk past. Picture it beside your sofa or next to your desk, bringing calm, structure and a little jungle height. It grows slowly and steadily, so the shape you bring home is the shape you'll enjoy for a long time. In the forests of tropical Africa it grows in dappled shade, which is why it stays happy in spots where fussier plants sulk. Give it a bright corner and a bit of patience, and it'll quietly become the backbone of your urban jungle.
Give it bright, indirect light and it'll grow its best, although it copes happily with a shadier corner too. Strong midday sun is the one thing to avoid, as it leaves pale, scorched patches on the leaves. Water every week or two once the top few centimetres of soil feel dry, because the cane stores moisture and forgives a dry spell far better than soggy roots. It likes a steady room temperature between 16 and 27 °C, and a regular wipe of the leaves keeps the dust off and the shine on. Repot into fresh, well-draining potting soil about every two years in spring, and feed only in spring and summer. Brown leaf tips usually mean dry air or very hard tap water, so try rainwater or let your tap water stand overnight. It's toxic to cats and dogs, so keep it out of nibbling reach.

Everything about Dracaena
Dracaena plants are incredibly popular as houseplants worldwide. The ones you'll see most often are Dracaena Marginata and Dracaena Fragrans. You might also know them by other names, like Corn Plant, Dragon Tree, or Cornstalk Dracaena. What's really fun about these plants is that they look like tiny trees.
The word Dracaena comes from the Ancient Greek word Drakaina, meaning "female dragon". With about 120 recognised species, the Dracaena family is not particularly large. This family is native to Africa, South Asia, northern Australia and Central America.
