(Japanese Maple) Palmatum Orange Dream

The Acer Palmatum Orange Dream is a graceful Japanese maple with finely cut, airy leaves that open bright yellow-orange in spring, turn golden yellow in summer and glow orange-red in autumn. It reaches about 300 cm in height and 200-250 cm in width at maturity, with an elegant, spreading habit. Plant 1 per square meter as a solitary specimen, or in a large pot on the patio or balcony. It is a true eye-catcher in small gardens, Japanese-style borders and containers. Seasonal changes affect the leaf colour at the moment of delivery.

Plant the Acer in a sunny to semi-shaded position, ideally sheltered from strong wind and scorching afternoon sun. It prefers humus-rich, slightly acidic, well-draining soil that stays lightly moist. Water regularly during dry spells, and more often when grown in a pot, as the leaf tips dry out quickly in drought. Prune only lightly in late summer or early autumn to keep the shape open, and avoid pruning in spring when the sap rises. The plant is fully hardy, but a pot should be wrapped or sheltered during severe frost.
