(Wisteria) Alba

The Wisteria Alba is a vigorous climber with long, fragrant, hanging clusters of pure white flowers in spring and soft, feathery green leaves. It reaches about 1000 cm in height at maturity and 300-500 cm in width when trained along a wall or pergola. Plant 1 per 3-4 metres of fence, wall or pergola, as a single plant grows into a generous curtain of blooms. The flowers attract bees and other pollinators in spring. It is perfect for pergolas, house fronts, arches and sturdy trellises. Seasonal changes may affect whether the plant arrives with flowers.

Plant the Wisteria in a sunny position for the best flowering and give it a sturdy support such as a pergola, wire system or wall trellis. It prefers fertile, well-draining soil that stays lightly moist and does not like waterlogged roots. Water regularly during dry spells, and more often when grown in a pot, as containers dry out much faster. Prune twice a year: shorten the long side shoots in late summer and cut them back to 2-3 buds in late winter to encourage abundant blooms. The Wisteria is fully hardy and needs no winter protection in the ground, but in a pot the roots are best protected during severe frost. All parts of the plant, especially the seeds and pods, are toxic if eaten.

That’s why all plants are guaranteed for 30 days after arrival, if still in its original nursery pot.
