The Sansevieria Zeylanica is the wilder, more mysterious sister of the famous snake plant, with long sword-shaped leaves in silvery green wave patterns. Each leaf carries its own rhythm of darker bands, giving this majestic specimen a beautifully natural, untamed look. It stands tall and sculptural, instantly giving a room more character. And it remains a true Sansevieria: nearly impossible to upset, happy with a splash of water a month. It even purifies the air while you sleep. Big presence, tiny to-do list.
Your Sansevieria is famously hard to kill, which makes it the perfect green friend for busy plant parents. It handles anything from bright direct sun to a shadier corner, though it grows fastest with plenty of light. Water only once a month and let the soil dry out completely, as the thick leaves store plenty of moisture themselves. Dry air, central heating, a forgotten week: none of it fazes this one. Plant it in a well-draining, sandy mix and repot every three years at most. Feed occasionally in spring and summer. The one golden rule: when in doubt, don't water. Keep it away from nibbling pets, as the leaves are mildly toxic.
