The Stromanthe Sanguinea is a nyctinastic plant, which means that it moves its leaves up and down during the day using little hinges at the bottom of their stems. In particular she closes up when the light is very bright, and opens up again when it gets cooler, moving with the rhythm of the day! And if you are very quiet you can even hear a light rustling sometimes, as she shifts position like a baby having growing pains. With a little love and care she will grow into a beautiful houseplant that will brighten up your hallway or bathroom.
Because the Stromanthe Sanguinea is nyctinastic, it is very important for it to be constantly kept in moist soil, which you can do by watering it twice a week. She’s very happy in the darker areas of your house, so keep her away from brightly-lit spots to keep her looking stunning. Pay close attention to her growth- with a little love she will quickly outgrow her small pot and be ready for a bigger one. During spring and summer, the growing season, regularly give her some extra organic PLNTS nutrition to support her growth.

July 07, 2023It has been 17 days since I ordered this plants, I have to admit I am in love. Out of the batch I ordered, this one is my absolute favorite. She is growing so perfectly for me, even pushing new nodes and leaves since she has been in my care. She loves high humidity and not as much light, but once she has what she likes, she will 100% let you know with her growth. (Do note, she is just a regular Pinstripe Stromanthe and not a Triostar, the image is very deceiving).

April 14, 2021My plant arrives with 3 leaves and one new growth point. the problem is that all leaves are somehow damage. So it didn't look at all like the picture. I hope the plant recovers.

November 21, 2020A proper baby plant, it was tiny when it got here! A couple of months down the line and is pushing out a new, perfect leaf. No leaf burn or dead leaves whatsoever. Be aware that this is not a Stromanthe Triostar, but a Sanguinea, so don't expect those pink - white leaves as this is an entirely different plant, beautiful and amazing on its own. I have to say in all honesty, I'm quite impressed that this plant (which is a total diva) arrived in such great condition on the other side of the world (Tenerife): great job, Plnts team!
