The Monstera Sierrana is a rare wild form from the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico, and a holy grail for aroid collectors. Its leaves develop deeper lobes and a more rugged character than the classic Deliciosa, giving mature plants an impressively sculptural silhouette. As a young plant it already shows that distinctive sturdy growth. Rarely offered, so this is your chance to raise one from the very start. Watching it develop its first splits is pure plant-parent joy. A collector's piece with mountain roots and serious potential.
Your Monstera enjoys a bright spot with indirect light, where its leaves develop their character best. Water weekly in summer and let the top layer of soil dry out in between; in winter it drinks noticeably less. It appreciates a bit of extra humidity, so an occasional misting is always welcome. Plant it in an airy, well-draining mix and repot every two years. Feed monthly in spring and summer. Give the aerial roots something to hold onto, like a moss pole, and it will reward you with bigger leaves. Wipe the foliage now and then so it can breathe. Keep it out of reach of pets, as the leaves are toxic when nibbled.
