(Ivy) Hibernica

The Hedera Hibernica, or Irish ivy, is a vigorous evergreen climber with large, glossy, dark green leaves. It can reach up to 750 cm in height when it has something to climb, and spreads about 100-150 cm wide as ground cover. Plant 3-4 per square meter as ground cover, or 1 plant per metre of wall, fence or trellis. It stays green all year round and, once mature, its autumn flowers are a welcome source of food for bees. It works well for covering walls, fences and bare soil, and also in large pots on a shady patio.

The Hedera Hibernica grows in sun, partial shade and full shade, so it suits almost any spot in the garden. Plant it in humus-rich, well-draining soil and keep it evenly moist while it settles in. Water during dry spells, and more often when it grows in a pot, because containers dry out much faster. Prune in spring or after summer to keep it in shape and to guide the shoots along its support. It is fully hardy and stays green through winter, so no winter protection is needed.

That’s why all plants are guaranteed for 30 days after arrival, if still in its original nursery pot.
