Picture a bright corner of your living room with a glossy fountain of deep green leaves arching out from a sturdy stem, standing about 110 cm tall. Each strap-like leaf has a smooth, almost lacquered shine that bounces the light around the room. Dracaenas grow wild in the tropical forests of Africa, which explains why this green friend feels so at home indoors. It grows slowly and steadily, so you get a calm, architectural shape without a plant that takes over the room. Pop it next to the sofa or your desk and a bare corner turns into a little piece of urban jungle.

Perfect match for your jungle

Everything about Dracaena

Dracaena plants are incredibly popular as houseplants worldwide. The ones you'll see most often are Dracaena Marginata and Dracaena Fragrans. You might also know them by other names, like Corn Plant, Dragon Tree, or Cornstalk Dracaena. What's really fun about these plants is that they look like tiny trees.

The word Dracaena comes from the Ancient Greek word Drakaina, meaning "female dragon". With about 120 recognised species, the Dracaena family is not particularly large. This family is native to Africa, South Asia, northern Australia and Central America.
