(Clematis) Tetrarose

The Clematis Tetrarose is a vigorous climber with large rose-pink flowers set against fresh green foliage. It climbs to several metres in height and spreads about 1 m in width when given a trellis, obelisk or wall wires to cling to. Plant 1 per running metre of fence or trellis for a full, flowering screen. It flowers from summer into early autumn and is popular with bees, which makes it a lovely choice for a pergola, fence, patio or large container. Seasonal changes may affect whether the plant arrives with flowers.

Plant the Clematis in a sunny to partly shaded spot, with the flowers in the light and the roots kept cool and shaded. It prefers fertile, well-draining soil that stays lightly moist, and it dislikes standing water. Water regularly during dry spells, especially when grown in a pot, as containers dry out much faster. Prune back hard in late winter or early spring to about 30 cm above the ground to encourage vigorous new growth and abundant blooms. The Clematis is fully hardy, but in a pot it is wise to place the container in a sheltered spot during severe frost.
