The Caladium is a tropical plant originating from Central and Southern America, particularly Brazil and the Amazon, that grows in the jungle. Caladiums are beautiful plants that grow from bulbs. Their heart-shaped, often brightly colored and beautifully veined leaves make the Caladium a real eyecatcher! The White Queen has stunning white leaves with a pink center that she wears as her crown. Planting a caladium tuber might take a little bit of effort, but will definitely be rewarded! She will be happy in a spot with partial shade, even a spot with no direct sunlight would be great for her. You can plant the tuber with the bud upwards, 1-2 centimeter deep in soil. To keep her warm and cozy, the temperature should roughly stay around 21 degrees. Make sure to give her lots of water, since she needs this to grow her big and bold leaves. Just keep an eye on if there is any water left over on the bottom of the pot, since she doesn’t like this to happen. To spoil her even more, you can mist her regularly. This will also help to keep a nice humidity. In fall her leaves will start to die off, this is also the time that you should stop giving her water. When only the tuber is left, you can place her inside a dry area, like a pot or inside sand. The temperature around the tuber should be around 12 degrees. When spring is arriving, you can repeat these steps. This routine will make sure you can enjoy your tuber for many years!
