The Caladium is a tropical plant originating from Central and Southern America, particularly Brazil and the Amazon, that grows in the jungle. Caladiums are beautiful plants that grow from bulbs. Their heart-shaped, often brightly colored and beautifully veined leaves make the Caladium a real eyecatcher! The Rosebud has super bright leaves with a pink center and pink veins. Around this pink middle center there is a white speckled pattern that fades into the bright green outline. This makes you look at her for hours!
Caladiums grow from tubers and the fun thing is that when you buy them here at PLNTS you can plant them yourself! In the care you can find all the instructions on how to achieve a grown Caladium, happy growing!
Now it’s time to plant your own tuber! It will take some work, but you will be rewarded. A spot with partial shade, or a spot without any direct sunlight is where they will be the happiest. She likes to stay warm and cozy, so the temperature should not drop below 21 degrees. Plant her 1-2 centimeters into soil, the buds should be pointed upwards. Give her lots of water, she needs that for her huge leaves. But keep in mind that she doesn’t like to be too wet either. Make sure that there is no water staying behind in the bottom of the pot. Mist her regularly to make her thrive and maintain the humidity. When fall arrives, her leaves will start to die. This is the time that you should stop watering her. When there are no leaves left, you can store the tuber in dry sand inside or in a pot. The temperature should be around 12 degrees. If you don’t do this rot can occur, which is something we don’t want of course. Once spring comes around the corner, you can replant her. By doing all of this, it will make sure your tuber can last for years!
