The Alocasia Regal Shield is definitely worth watching grow! Her leaves are shaped like a shield, to which she obviously gets her name from. The first leaves of the baby plant are noticeable a lighter colour than the leaves of a mature plant. But during her growth, the colour of her leaves become darker and darker. Another thing that you will probably notice is the reddish colour on the bottom of her leaves, you can already notice this once a new leaf unfolds. How exciting?!
The Alocasia Regal Shield is a big fan of warm temperatures and a high humidity. Keep her satisfied and she’ll reward you with her stunning leaves that grow very fast under the right conditions. Give her lots of bright indirect sunlight, if possible, about 6 hours. Make sure you turn her every week, so she will grow even. Yellow spots at the end of her leaves are often a sign of overwatering, also when her leaves start to drip. Water your Regal Shield when the top of her soil ( first 2-3 cm) is dried out, with that in mind you can create your own watering schedule. Like all other Alocasia’s
