(Japanese Maple) Moonrise

The Acer Moonrise is an elegant Japanese maple with finely lobed leaves and a graceful, airy habit. In autumn the foliage turns into a warm display of colour that lights up any garden. It reaches about 300 cm in height and 200-250 cm in width at maturity. Plant one per 2-3 square meters as a striking specimen in a border, gravel garden or large container. Seasonal changes may affect the colour and fullness of the foliage when the plant arrives.

Plant the Acer in a sunny to semi-shaded spot, sheltered from strong wind and the hot afternoon sun. It prefers humus-rich, well-draining soil that stays lightly moist. Water regularly during dry spells, especially in the first years and when grown in a pot, as container plants dry out much faster. Prune only lightly, in late summer or during winter dormancy, and avoid heavy pruning in spring when the sap rises. The Acer is fully hardy, but in a pot it is wise to protect the roots in severe frost.
