The Platycerium Bifurcatum, or staghorn fern, gets its name from its leaves which grow like the antlers of a deer. Unlike other ferns, this cute baby plant loves light, perhaps because of its roots in the islands of the Indian Ocean. The leaves of the Baby Platycerium Bifurcatum are coated with soft downy hairs which enable it to retain moisture very well and make it less likely to dry out.
Unlike other fern species, the baby Platycerium Bifurcatum is a huge fan of light, and is happiest on the windowsill or near a window. She likes having moist soil, so give her a little water twice a week directly on the soil under the leaves. When you pour it directly on the leaves the white downy layer can disappear, leaving the plant vulnerable.

Very cute Platycerium. I planted it in a normal pot for now, but I’m excited to mount it on a board as soon as it grows a little bit taller. So far it seems to be thriving!
