The Philodendron Red Congo Variegata is an exceptionally rare twist on a beloved classic, combining the deep red stems and burgundy new leaves of the Red Congo with unpredictable splashes of cream and lime variegation. Every leaf is a one-off, painted somewhere between wine red, forest green and soft yellow. It grows into a full, self-heading plant that needs no climbing support to impress. Variegated Red Congos rarely surface, so collectors know exactly why this one matters. Starting small means enjoying every single new leaf. A rare gem with royal genes.
Your variegated Philodendron does best in a bright spot with plenty of indirect light, which keeps the colourful variegation strong; direct sun, however, will scorch the leaves. Water weekly and let the top layer of soil dry out in between. It appreciates higher humidity, so mist regularly or group it with other green friends. Plant it in an airy, well-draining mix and repot every two years. Feed monthly in spring and summer. If new leaves come out mostly green, move it a little closer to the light to encourage the variegation. Keep it out of reach of pets, as the leaves are toxic when nibbled.
