The Ctenanthe Amagris is a distant relative of the Calathea, and shows this heritage on the surface of its leaves. She comes from tropical areas in Central and South America where she grows in the shade of trees. The Ctenanthe pulls up her leaves every evening when she goes to ‘sleep' and when it’s really quiet you may even hear the rustling of the leaves!
The Ctenanthe Amagris does not need a lot of water- we recommend just an occasional dash to prevent the soil from drying out. To keep her totally happy and to prevent white spots from appearing on her leaves, give her a shower of distilled water or rainwater from your plant sprayer once in a while. For fuller and more concentrated growth you should also regularly prune her back and remove dead leaves. And please be cautious- Ctenanthe Amagris is poisonous for pets.
