Calathea insignis, also called Rattlesnake plant, has upright yellow-green leaves, with dark green ovals, alternately large and small, on the upper side of the leaves. The leaves have a chestnut brown underside. Really special! It is a very decorative houseplant that also purifies the air, so a real eye-catcher that also contributes to a better and healthier indoor climate. This plant is also completely safe for your pets or children!
This Calathea does well in a warm place with moderately filtered to soft sunlight. If the leaves seem to be discolouring or losing their pattern and colour, you may have placed it in a spot that is too bright. Move it to a more sheltered spot. Also, keep it away from a heater/air conditioner, as it is very sensitive to cold or hot drafts and sudden temperature changes. It is important to water it regularly. In summer, keep the soil moist, but not soggy. In winter, when the plant is not in an active growth phase
