(Butterfly Bush) Butterfly Candy Little Ruby

The Buddleja Butterfly Candy Little Ruby is a compact, richly flowering shrub with long spikes of deep ruby-pink flowers above grey-green leaves. It reaches about 60-80 cm in height and 50-70 cm in width at maturity. Plant 3-4 per square meter for a dense, colourful display. From summer into autumn the sweetly scented blooms attract butterflies and bees, making it ideal for patios, balconies, borders and small gardens. Seasonal changes may affect whether the plant arrives with flowers.

Plant the Buddleja in a sunny, sheltered position for the best flowering performance. It prefers well-draining soil and tolerates short dry periods better than wet roots. Water regularly during extended dry spells, especially when grown in pots, as containers dry out much faster. Prune back firmly in early spring to keep the shape compact and to encourage fresh growth and abundant blooms. Removing faded flower spikes in summer helps it keep flowering. This variety is fully hardy and can stay outside all winter, in a pot with a little extra protection around the roots.
