The Begonia Masoniana is a strong houseplant and originates from South China and North Vietnam. This plant is also called the ‘iron cross’ begonia. It owes its name to the cruciform pattern on its leaves. The cross is reddish brown and contrasts nicely with the bright green leaves. The Begonia Masoniana can also function as a hanging plant.
The Begonia Masoniana prefers a semi-shaded spot. She loves moist soil so check regularly to make sure she is not drying out, and never fear to give her a little splash of water. But don't exaggerate, because like most plants she doesn't like wet feet. One tip- if she produces small flowers, remove them quickly so that she is free to put all her energy into her fantastic leaves.
