The Asplenium Antiquum is the elegant Japanese cousin of the bird's nest fern, with narrower, gracefully arching fronds in the freshest shade of green. Its glossy leaves emerge from a tidy central rosette and curve outward like a green fountain. Native to the forests of Japan, it brings a calm, almost zen-like presence to any room. It stays compact and well-behaved, ideal for a bathroom shelf or a bright spot in the bedroom. Completely pet-friendly too, so no worries about curious noses. A refined fern for anyone who loves lush green with a touch of serenity.
Your Asplenium loves a bright spot without direct sunlight, so a little distance from a south-facing window keeps those glossy fronds happy. Water weekly and keep the soil lightly moist, but never pour water into the heart of the rosette, as that can cause rot. This fern thrives on humidity, which makes the bathroom or a spot near other green friends a great choice. A well-draining potting mix and a repot every two years give the roots room to breathe. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a diluted plant food. If you spot brown, crispy edges, the air is probably too dry, so grab that plant sprayer a little more often. Good news for pet parents: this one is completely animal-friendly.
