Every new leaf is a little surprise, because no two variegation patterns are ever the same. It's still a baby, so it fits on a shelf or windowsill now and will grow into a real statement piece in your urban jungle. Bright, indirect light suits it best, and a spot near an east or north-facing window keeps those white patches crisp. Water when the top few centimetres of soil feel dry, usually about once a week, and never leave the pot standing in water. It loves humidity and temperatures between 18 and 26 degrees, so skip cold draughts and radiators. Use an airy, well-draining potting mix and repot once a year as the roots fill the pot. Feed every few weeks in spring and summer, and not at all in winter. If a leaf yellows now and then, that's normal for an Alocasia, and keep it away from pets and children as it is toxic if chewed.
