Wavy leaf edges and glossy green leaves with a golden glow: this little Alocasia has a lot of character for a plant that fits in the palm of your hand. As a BabyPLNTS it starts out compact, but give it a bright spot and every new leaf will unfurl a little bigger than the one before. Picture it on a shelf or windowsill near the light, where those ruffled leaves can catch the day without getting scorched. Alocasias are rainforest dwellers from Southeast Asia, so this green friend brings a touch of that jungle mood into your home. Start young, and you get to watch it grow into a real statement piece.

Bright, indirect light keeps the leaves compact and glossy, while harsh midday sun can scorch them. Water about once a week, as soon as the top few centimetres of soil feel dry, and never let the pot stand in a puddle. Alocasias love warmth and humidity, so keep it between 18 and 26 °C, away from draughty windowsills, and mist it or group it with other plants now and then. Use airy, well-draining potting soil and repot into a slightly bigger pot once a year, when roots start peeking out of the bottom. Feed with diluted plant food every few weeks in spring and summer, and skip it in winter. Good to know: all parts of this plant are toxic to cats and dogs, and it may drop a leaf in winter, which is completely normal.

That’s why all plants are guaranteed for 30 days after arrival, if still in its original nursery pot.
