(Japanese Maple) Palmatum Going Green

The Acer Palmatum Going Green is a graceful Japanese maple with finely cut, fresh green leaves on an elegant, upright habit that turns to warm tones in autumn. This pot-grown specimen already stands about 145 cm tall and grows to a final height of around 300 cm, with a width of roughly 150-200 cm at maturity. Plant 1 per 2-4 square meters, as it looks best as a solitary feature. Its airy foliage adds movement and colour to a shady corner, a Japanese-style garden or a large container on the patio. Seasonal changes may affect the look of the foliage on arrival.

Plant the Acer in partial shade, sheltered from strong wind and the harsh midday sun, which can scorch the leaves. It prefers humus-rich, slightly acidic, well-draining soil that stays lightly moist. Water regularly during dry spells, and more often when grown in a pot, as container plants dry out much faster. Prune only lightly, in late autumn or winter, to remove dead or crossing branches. The plant is fully hardy, but in a pot the roots appreciate some winter protection during severe frost.
