(Japanese Maple) Orange Dream

The Acer Orange Dream is a Japanese maple with finely cut leaves that unfold bright yellow-orange in spring, turn golden yellow in summer and glow orange-red in autumn. It reaches about 300 cm in height and 200-250 cm in width at maturity, with an elegant, airy habit. Give it a solitary spot of at least 2 square meters, or grow it in a large container. It is a graceful focal point for a sheltered border, patio or Japanese-style garden. Seasonal changes affect the leaf colour you will see on arrival.

Plant the Acer in partial shade or a spot with morning sun, sheltered from strong wind and hot afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorch. It prefers humus-rich, slightly acidic, well-draining soil that stays lightly moist. Water regularly in dry spells, and more often when grown in a pot, as containers dry out much faster. Pruning is rarely needed: remove dead or crossing branches in late summer and avoid pruning in spring when the sap rises. The Acer is fully hardy, but in a pot it helps to wrap the container or place it against a sheltered wall in severe frost.

That’s why all plants are guaranteed for 30 days after arrival, if still in its original nursery pot.
