The Pilea Depressa is a delightful trailing plant with tiny, round, juicy green leaves that tumble over the pot like a green waterfall. Every little leaf looks like a miniature coin, which is why it fits so beautifully on a shelf or in a hanging pot. It grows quickly and enthusiastically, rewarding you with longer and fuller strands in no time. Its fresh, playful look brightens up even the smallest corner. And because it is completely pet-friendly, those dangling strands are safe from drama. Small leaves, big joy.
Your Pilea is happiest in bright, indirect light, where those delicate little leaves keep their colour without scorching. Water weekly and let the top of the soil dry slightly in between, as the fine roots dislike sitting in water. Normal room humidity is fine, though it won't say no to an occasional misting. Plant it in a light, well-draining potting mix and repot every two years. Feed monthly in spring and summer with diluted plant food. Trim back long strands whenever you like to keep it full, and pop the cuttings in water for free new plants. Completely pet-friendly too, so trailing within paws' reach is no drama.
