The Coleus Alligator Alley is a wild one, with jagged, deeply cut leaves in vivid lime green splashed with dark burgundy markings. That reptilian texture is exactly where the name comes from, and it gives the plant a thrillingly untamed look. Like all coleus it is a fast, enthusiastic grower, rewarding you with fresh patterned leaves all season long. The colours pop hardest in a bright spot. Pinch it back regularly to keep that full, bushy shape. For plant lovers who like their green with a bit of bite.
Your Coleus shows its brightest colours in plenty of light, so give it a spot with lots of brightness and even a little gentle morning sun. Water weekly and keep the soil lightly moist, because this fast grower gets thirsty and will dramatically droop when dry (it perks right up after a drink). Normal room humidity is fine. Pinch out the growing tips regularly to keep your plant bushy and full instead of leggy. Feed monthly in spring and summer to fuel all that colourful new growth. Keep it warm, ideally above 15 degrees, and away from cold draughts. Do keep it out of reach of pets, as the leaves are not meant for nibbling.
