The Calathea medallion has a memorable appearance with her bold patterned leaves and beautiful deep purple underside. During the day she lets her leaves stand open, but when night falls she closes them up and reveals the deep purple colour on their underside. If you are very quiet you can even hear the gentle rustling as she transforms! The Calathea medallion likes to take up plenty of space, but she doesn’t need a lot of light. As a domestic plant it does well in the darker areas of your living room, the hall or even the bathroom.

The Calathea medaillon is super easy to care for- just give a bit of space for her leaves to open and close, and follow these simple rules. She’s not a big drinker, so instead of watering once a week divide it into two smaller splashes of water to make sure her soil stays damp out but the roots don’t rot. To help her grow, give her some organic PLNTS nutrition once every fortnight. The Calathea Medaillona is air purifying and safe for both children and pets.

Lovely foliage, but had some suspicious marks on the stems so I had to isolate it and clean it thoroughly in case it came with pests.

I bought the XL version and it was the best purchase I made. I grows like crazy without needing too much care besides regular watering. Also it started blooming only 2 month after I got it. The visuals are obviously stunning but it is also interesting how it closes up during the night and opens up again.
