- Fun fact! This beautiful plant family, the Anthurium, symbolizes hope. So whenever you are looking for a kind present for someone, you might want to consider gifting them an Anthurium.

The Anthurium Silver Blush is actually a natural epiphyte, which means that it grows on top of other plants. If you would like to witness them in their natural growing conditions, you can either visit a botanical garden or visit them in the tropical rainforest of Central and South America.

care guide

The Anthurium Silver Blush will be happiest in a chunky soil mix that won’t get waterlogged easily. You can use our epiphyte potting mix kit to be able to mix your own potting mix at home. We would recommend using the ratios of 85% tree bark, and 10% sphagnum moss. 3% perlite and 2% charcoal. This will make your Anthurium Silver Blush super comfortable and allow water to drain out of the mix like a charm!

- Expert tip! Most plants come in handy nursery pots, but did you know that these actually can be used to your advantage? You can place the plant in the nursery pot in a fancy outer pot, now your plant looks pretty but still is able to let out excess water through the holes of the nursery pot. The only thing left to do is to keep an eye on any water that might be accumulating on the bottom of the outer pot.

We already know that Anthurium doesn’t like to be waterlogged, so that is always handy to keep in mind when giving this silver beauty a sip of water. Always be gentle with the amount of water and make sure to check the moistness of the soil prior to giving water. It prefers to have slightly moist soil at all times, so whenever you feel that the top is starting to become dry, is time to water your Anthurium.

- Fun fact! The Anthurium Silver Blush is a rare cultivar of the Anthurium Crystallinum, can you name a few resemblances between the two?

Your Silver Blush will grow best when put in a spot where it can receive lots of bright indirect light. Maybe even somewhere where it can benefit from the soft morning or evening sun on its foliage. Just make sure your Anthurium won’t scorch from the heat. If you can’t provide your Anthurium Silver Blush with sufficient light, you will notice stunted growth. In this case, you can add a grow light, that will fix the problem for you!

Fun fact! There are over 800 known Anthurium species. Even Though that’s a lot, this beauty knows how to stand out and steal the hearts of PLNTSlovers all over the world!

As for the temperature, it prefers to stay in a room where it’s never below 16 degrees and never above 24 degrees. Due to its tropical origin, it would also like to grow in a pretty humid climate. Somewhere between 50 and 70% will do the trick for this beauty of a plant.

Propagating

Anthurium Silver Blush

The most fun way to propagate your Anthurium Silver blush is from seed! This way you witness every life stage the plant goes through and you will feel like the proudest PLNTSparent once you have grown your own Silver blush from seed, sounds like fun right? So if you would like to get going with growing your Anthurium Silver Blush seeds, here is the step-by-step guide for you:

Step 1

Pick your substrate and pot. You can choose the ones you prefer, but just to give you an idea, for substrates, you can pick sphagnum moss, perlite, vermiculite or pon. As a pot you might want to use special seedling pots and trays, since these are especially made for growing seeds. But any small pot will do!

Step 2

Fill up your pot with the chosen substrate and moisten the substrate with a spray bottle. Make sure it doesn’t get too soggy, since that might cause the seeds to rot.

Step 3

You can place the seeds on top of the substrate, you don’t need to cover them with substrate since that allows them to see some sunlight as they grow.

Step 4

Close to the environment your seed is growing in. There are many ways to do so, but the easiest is to place your pot in a greenhouse or to simply cover the pot with plastic wrap. This will increase the temperature and the humidity around the seeds, which is exactly what they like!

Step 5

Tender, love and care! Make sure the substrate stays moist and you should see some sprouts appear after 1-3 months. It requires a bit of patience, but it will be so worth it!
